Job Description
Organizational Role: Individual will support mission and quality assurance by participating in multi-disciplinary teams conducting quality and mission assurance evaluations in support of the Aegis Weapons System (AWS) and the Common Data Link Management System (CDLMS). The Mission Assurance Engineer will provide technical expertise to Quality Management in responding to design and development concerns. Support requirements identification and development process by evaluating and assessing planning, design, development, production and operations for missile defense components, subsystems and systems. The successful candidate will act as an integral part of the team to ensure the delivery of products and services that always meets and usually exceeds customer expectations.
Essential Roles & Responsibilities:
• Provide expert Mission Assurance policy, advice and recommendations, technical guidance, and direction of the resources, personnel, and mission efforts to support the development and acceptance of mission critical hardware and software
• Support the review and completion of FMEA/FMECAs, pedigree reviews, supplier audits, and data collection events
• Support will include Fault or Event Tree Analysis and participation in Failure Review Boards
• Define Mission Assurance technical and contractual requirements to support the development and execution of product specifications, design reviews, test and evaluation programs, award fee events and the identification and acquisition of required program office Mission Assurance support
• Perform surveillance and assessment audits of contractors or subcontractors which participate in the development of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS)
• Services and expertise include, and are not limited to oversight, support and execution of life-cycle, Quality, Safety, Mission Assurance requirements
• Assist in implementing the mission assurance provisions of the MDA/QS Mission Assurance Plan
• Verify I&T operations performed per proper documentation including 100% witness of operations
• Ensure all issues and discrepancies are properly documented and processed
• Understand configuration of test items
• Identify and reconcile configuration changes occurring during I&T operations
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field
• 7 years of progressively responsible experience in an engineering environment
• Background in NASA and/or DoD launch vehicles and/or satellite systems and experience with Ballistic Missile Defense Systems a plus
• Knowledge of diversified professional engineering concepts, theories, and practices
• Knowledge of the operations, products, services, needs and goals of the
Aegis BMD program and the organizations served, and related customers, functions, resources, and users.
• Knowledge in the area of system engineering, integration, test and fielding
• Experience in best industry practices, such as ISO or CMMI
• Skilled in written and oral communication and capable of daily direct customer interaction
• Ability to write technical reports and present ideas in a clear and concise manner
• U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance
