Dentists:
New Access Point/330-funded Healthcare Facility Dental Providers: Looking for full and/or part-time Dentists to work in a local Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in northwestern Rhode Island. The Tri-Town Community Action Agency Health Center is seeking qualified applicants as follows:
Agency Profile: The Tri-Town Community Action Agency, a private, non-profit corporation established under President Johnson’s “War on Poverty in 1964”, provides a wide range of social, support, and advocacy services to the low-moderate income residents of North Providence, Johnston, Smithfield, North Smithfield, Burrillville, Glocester, Scituate, and Foster. The Agency receives a total of over $12.7 million dollars annually from federal, state, local, and private sources to serve 23,000 individuals and families. The mission is to assist families in reaching their goals toward social and economic self-sufficiency. Toward this end, the agency provides programs/services including: Community Health Center; Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment and Counseling; Tobacco Treatment and Counseling; WIC Program; Early and Basic Head Start; Even Start Family Literacy; Employment and Training Programs; GED/ESL; Adult Basic Education; Model Youth Prevention Programs; Youth Diversionary Program; Teen Pregnancy and Parenting; Youth Responsibility; Elder Case Management Program; Elderly Victims of Crime; Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP); Weatherization Assistance Program; Emergency Food and Shelter; Food Bank/Closet; Emergency Housing Assistance and a broad range of other services/programs which support the self-sufficiency goals of program participants.
Health Center Profile: The Tri-Town Health Center was established in 1974. Licensed by the Rhode Island Department of Health, the Rhode Island Department of Mental Health, Retardation, and Hospitals (Behavioral Health), and Accredited by the Joint Commission (JCAHO) since 1999, the Tri-Town Health Center provides: Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Ob/Gyn, Geriatrics, Lab Services, Women’s Cancer Screening Program, Family Planning (Title X), Diabetes Screening and Tracking, Chronic Disease Care Collaborative; Diabetes Outpatient Education Program (RIDOH - Certified Site), HIV/AIDS Testing and Counseling, Family Resource Counseling, WIC, Nutrition Education and Counseling, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Counseling and Treatment, Tobacco Treatment and Counseling, Patient Education, Counseling, and Referral.
Health Center Staffing: Currently, the Health Center does not operate a dental clinic. However, through the New Access Points/330 funding recently received from HRSA, the Agency has been approved to establish three (3) state-of-the art dental operatories by July 1, 2009. In addition to Dentists, dental support staff consisting of Dental Hygienists and Dental Assistants will be hired as well. The Health Center and Behavioral Health services are well established with the following staffing patterns: three (3) FTE Physicians and a full complement of administrative and clinical support staff including a Health Center/Behavioral Health Director, Patient Educator/C-DOE Site Coordinator, Patient Outreach, Intake and Screening Director, HIT/Electronic Medical Records Administrator, Office Manager, Medical Assistants, Medical Receptionists, Medical Records and Billing Staff, two Registered Nurses, a Licensed Practical Nurse, and two (2) full-time Family Practice Nurse Practitioners. There are five (5) LICSW’s and one (1) LCSW employed in the Behavioral Healthcare division of the Health Center. The administrative infra-structure of the Agency is supported by a Chief Executive Officer (CEO), a Chief Operating Officer (COO), a Finance Director (CFO), a Human Resources Director, an Information and Technology Director and a Director of Special Projects.
Patient Eligibility: All patients residing in the service area are eligible to receive services, regardless of ability to pay. A sliding scale fee is available according to income and all forms of third party insurance are accepted. Tri-Town is a founding member and participant in the Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island (NHPRI).
Hours: FTE – 40 hours/week; and/or Part-Time 20-28 hours week. Open Mondays, Tuesday, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 am – 8:00 pm; Fridays from 8:30am – 5:00pm and Saturdays from 8:30am to 1:00pm. At least one evening per week required are rotated among Providers. Hours negotiable. Schedule flexible.
Salary/Benefits: Salary comparable to other Community Health Center Dentists (CHC’s) statewide. For Tri-Town staff Dentists this includes sick, vacation, paid holidays, malpractice insurance, CME allowance and time, health/dental benefits (single fully paid, family available), pension with employer match, etc. Equal Opportunity Employer.
On Call: light duty, shared among Providers, with 24 hour answering service.
Required Qualifications: All Providers must be credentialed with insurance companies and through the national credentialing data-bank. All applicants must have a license to practice dentistry in the State of Rhode Island (or in the application process).
