Job Description

This position provides support for FAA Terminal Automation System Independent Data Analysis and Solution Development to ensure system software development continues to decrease the risk of accidents, incidents, and traffic delays to the National Airspace System (NAS).

Specific duties include the following:
· Provide state-of-the-art expertise in safety function algorithms and performance for terminal automation systems.
· Apply software, hardware, and standards knowledge in the analysis, specification, development, integration, and acquisition of systems for terminal automation services.
· Ensure and validate that systems software is compliant with FAA standards.
· Test, evaluate and recommend processes for safety, reliability, maintainability, integrity and other system engineering disciplines to improve safety-related services.
· Conduct studies and analyses and provide data, information, databases and other products.
· Plan, conduct and coordinate detailed phases of analytical tasks
· Process scientific work on a project, or perform work which involves engineering or scientific practices. The work may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements and difficult technical requirements

The following knowledge/experience is required for this position:
· Masters Degree in the applicable field of study and ten (10) or more years of relevant experience OR a Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable field of study and fifteen (15) or more years of relevant experience OR a minimum of twenty (20) or more years of relevant experience
· Experience with target processing, safety/conflict alerts, and tracking algorithms
· Capability to run simulations to validate tracking algorithms and safety/conflict alert algorithms

The following experience/expertise is beneficial for this position:
· Understanding of surveillance sensor systems such as RADAR, Multilateration (MULTILAT), and ADS-B
· Capability to test STARS and/or CARTS tracking code and algorithms
· Understanding of Kalman filter based trackers
Capability to analyze flight test results and recorded ATC data including targets of opportunity
· Experience performing system and/or software verification and validation
· Experience on government projects/programs for agencies such as the FAA or Air Force
